Pie Floater Day In Memory Of Tony Scoot
Last Monday, Eudunda Bowling Club hosted a Pie Floater Day in memory of Tony Scoot who died earlier this year. This coincided with the club’s Open Day in which Patron Bob Leditschke and Patroness Betty Marshall performed the official opening of the season. The champions of the club Pam Dutschke and Aaron Jones ‘opened’ the greens with the delivery of the jack and bowl respectively.
The Australian flag was flying at half mast to honour and respect the long-serving bowler Hazel Jenke, who died last Friday.
Tournament Director Bill Mader welcomed all including two teams from Tanunda, a team from Robertstown, and Eudunda bowlers. The tables were decorated with bright yellow serviettes, which was Tony’s favourite colour. Tony’s wife Ruth was the sponsor of the day.
The raffle was once again successfully drawn by Chris Jones and Pam Dutschke, then the pie floaters were served to the bowlers, which were well received and enjoyed by the throng. The culmination of the Pie Floater day and Open day proved very successful.
President Mally Schutz thanked the ladies in the kitchen for the great pie floaters, and acknowledged Jan Beggs as a keen bowler and worker in the club, who we will miss as she is moving to Adelaide.
The winners of the day were Eudunda’s Ted Schiller, Ted Bowden, Jan Beggs and Murray Sauer, and runner’s up Tanunda’s Sharon Burgemeister, Sue Yates, Meredith Stewart and Kathy Wallace. Third place went to Eudunda’s Aaron Jones, Preston Eva, Ruth Scoot and Ron Milde.
The season begins this week with Midweek Pennants on Thursday October 5th, and Saturday Pennants the 7th. Check the teams to see if you are selected.
