Eudunda Bowls News 5th January 2025…

The pennant bowls was in full swing last Saturday (4th) very soon after we saw the New Year in. A hot start to the New Year prompted the matches to be played in the morning.

Division 1 played Freeling on our home turf and were victorious 98-54. Jimmy Mader had a convincing win against Leanne Mullins 25-17, Chris Jones performed well against Alex Bryan 21-15, Turtle Curtis, even though he missed out on breakfast, had a great win 22-10 against Trevor Heinjus, and Kym ‘Chucka’ Schutz had a fantastic win 30-12 against Ian Young.

Division 2 had an early breakfast and went to Angaston to play the Blues and were whitewashed 46-70! Newcomer, Andrew Fontaine and his team succumbed to Brian Teakle and his team 6-28, Rob Cavanagh was ‘under the pump’ from his opposing skipper Ian Cockcroft 17-24, and Ted Schiller and his team were superb with a racing start 18-2, however still finished 23-18 against Judy Argent.

Division 3 played Lyndoch at Eudunda and cruised home with a 85-33 win. Doreen Twartz got out of the blocks early, and still maintained a comfortable lead to win 27-16 against Sue Davis. Pam Dutschke had a great win 27-7 (and her leader Bob Leditschke bowled impeccably) against Kym Cumson, and Ron Hams had a great day 31-10 against Colin Davies.

The Team of the Week was Ron Hams, Ruth Scoot, Pat Milham and GG – a well-earned award being up by a fabulous 21 shots!

Next Sunday 12th January is Centenary Celebration Day from 2pm – 5pm. All members are asked to attend in uniform to this special milestone of our club.

The following Sunday 19th is Cosmo Fours Tournament, so put your names on the sheet to play or help in any way around the club. Please note that Caddieshack is attending, so is a good opportunity to purchase your bowling needs.
