The Eudunda boys Mally Schutz, Rob Cavanagh, Mike Rees and Preston Eva won the tournament at Burra on Australia Day and were treated to roast lamb for lunch!

Beautiful weather greeted eighteen Night Bowlers last Tuesday. The winners of the night were the three ‘G’s -George Mitev, Geoff Mosey and Greg Prior who had an outstanding win against Jane Felby, Katrina Turner and Trevor Prior. Runners-up were Mike Rees, Pam Dutschke and Liz Mosey who were four shots better off than Coral Schutz, Hermann Kloss and Rhonda Horne. Raffle winner was Jane Felby.

The Ladies hosted Tanunda on Thursday in idyllic weather and won 61-46. Joy Hams had a handy lead, but in the second half Sue Yates surged forward and finished up four shots on Joy; Ruth Scoot and Judy Thompson had the battle of the armed and dangerous where Ruth had a strong finish 23-15; and Doreen Twartz’s team bowled well to win 23-12 against Christina Doecke’s team. Doreen’s lead Coral Schutz played well all day and got ‘many kisses’ with the chalk. After the game, the Ladies planned catering for the Open Fours tournament on Tuesday 20th February.

The Mid-Week Men had no matches due to Country Carnival in Adelaide. Eudunda bowlers Mally Schutz and Geoff Schmidt got through to the playoffs only to lose that first one.

On Saturday Division 1 played Freeling at Eudunda on a cosy day and defeated the visitors 102-77 with mixed results. A battle between Bill Mader and Alex Bryan saw Bill finishing 14-23; Tait Rogers was challenged by Terry ‘Turtle’ Curtis’ superb bowling 15-30, Kym ‘Chucka’ Schutz was dominant against Leanne Mullins 31-13, and the shining lights were Aaron Jones and his team of Matt Jones, Andrew ‘Frankie’ Pfitzner and Preston Eva (although Preston’s team-mates claimed his leading was not up to scratch!!) who won by a remarkable 42-11 against Rod Seen.

Division 3 played Angaston Blue on their turf and were outdone in all three rinks 44-80. Gordon ‘Kiwi’ Teau found it tough going against Chris Reardon 18-29, Rons Hams likewise was tested against the superior bowling of Andy Brunton 14-30, and Ruth Scoot had tight match against David Tye 12-21.

Division 4 also played Angaston and won 52-39. Roy Fiegert was unstoppable against Gavan Phillips 37-13, which easily covered Pam Dutschke’s loss to Liz Strachan 15-26. Some bowlers were a little heat stressed in the conditions, but a slight breeze eased the situation.

The Team of the Week was the dream team of Aaron Jones, Matt Jones, Frank Pfitzner and Preston Eva.

Get your names on the sheet for the Open Fours on Tuesday 20th February, and continue playing the Club Championships.
