The ladies hosted Lyndoch on a beautiful green and won 55-51. Ruth Scoot had an excellent comeback from 7-19 to finish 19-22 against Sue Drummond. Joy Hams ‘got out of the blocks’ early with an 11-1 lead, but Marion Kenyon fought back to level the score. However, Joy finished strongly 16-14. Judy Milde played Joss Allwood in a tight match with Eudunda winning 20-15.
Thursday afternoon Division 1 men played Kapunda on the home turf for a lesson on how to play bowls. Preston Eva and Murray Sauer were outdone by Greg Cruickshank and Russell Walker, however Geoff Schmidt and his team matched Kevin Absolom19-19.
Thursday’s Division 2 men played at Lyndoch and were down 40-61. Ron Hams played well to be within 2 shots of Brian Koch, Tony Scoot went down to Rex Vanstone 15-24, and Roy Fiegert down 10-20 to Trevor Noble.
Division 1 played Freeling in cool conditions, going down 81-95. ‘Frankie’ Pfitzner had a fantastic comeback to finish 25-27 to Josh Geier, likewise Geoff Schmidt got down to business being just 4 shots short of Nathan Marslen 22-26, Tait Rogers skippered well against Matt Marslen 17-18, and Chris Jones played brilliantly to save the team often, but succumbed to Turtle Curtis in the finish 17-24.
Division 2A hosted Lyndoch and were overcome by the visitors 74-83. Ron Hams was down to Trevor Noble 20-30, Tony Scoot started in style, but Brian Koch cramped that later in the game 27-36, and Kiwi was the shining light with a brilliant win 27-17 against Rex Vanstone.
Division 3 also played at Freeling and had an impressive win 67-48. Jeff Willoughby played one player short, going down to D. Jamieson 9-26, Roy Fiegert and his family had an excellent win 23-11 against Heather Hancock, and Pat Obst and her team were the highlight of the week with a 35-11 win against Ross Wordly.
Team of the Week was Pat Obst, Marg Nietschke, Maurice Nietschke and George Mitev.
The Eudunda Fun Day is this Sunday 25th October 10 o’clock for 10’30 start. The day will be sponsored by the Mitev family, and is guaranteed to be fun as the name suggests. Please wear casual and bring a sense of humour.
There will be a club photo taken by ‘The Leader’ photographer on Saturday morning 24th October at 11am. All members please attend in uniform. A pie/pasty lunch at the clubhouse will follow before bowls starts. The photo will be published in ‘The Leader’ on November 4th as a highlight for the 95th birthday feature.
