Eudunda Bowls News 28th October 2024
The ladies played Lyndoch in a cliff-hanger last Thursday 48-49. Doreen Twartz played a determined Di Howse 14-19, Joy Hams and her team played well to win 20-14 against Kathy Thomson, and Ruth Scoot had a tight tussle against Sue Drummond 14-16. After the game, a meeting was held to organise catering for Eudunda’s Ladies Tournament which is planned for Friday 15th November.
Mid-Week Division 1 men played Angaston on our home turf and went down 52-69. Aaron Jones could not find the answers for Ian Elsworthy 9-31, Greg Prior had a battle with Wayne Newell 20-23, but the shining light was Chris Jones with his win 23-15 over Mark Schutz.
Mid-Week Division 2 travelled to Tanunda to play Tanunda Black in a challenging day, finishing 51-74. Preston Eva was down 15-22 to Peter Giersch, Ted Schiller was outdone by Evan Allanson 14-28, while Ron Hams and his team played well to be only two down to David Pech 22-24.
All Divisions on Saturday were winners for the second week in a row.
On Saturday Division 1 hosted Lyndoch and continued their winning streak defeating Lyndoch 83-63. Terry ‘Turtle’ Curtis had a great contest with Harry Sykes in the battle of the giants! Turtle was trailing 2-13 in the early stages, but pegged Harry back in an impressive comeback to finish 15-16. Aaron Jones bowled impeccably against Shane Marslen 19-17, Jimmy Mader continued to be dominant 26-17 against Shaun Mahoney, and Tait Rogers had a successful day against Darren Green 23-13.
Division 2 were also home to Kapunda Red and won convincingly 63-42. Michael ‘Doc’ Upton had an excellent day 20-10 against Ned Morgan, Rob Cavanagh and his team were relentless against A. McLennon by winning in fine form 24-9, while Ted Schiller had a tight contest against the irrepressible Judy Earl 19-23.
There were many comments and compliments about the beautiful roses which are tended by a dedicated Pam Dutschke at the bowling club.
Division 3 journeyed to Lyndoch and were met with some stiff opposition, but managed to clinch a win on the last bowl of the day 60-58! Pam Dutschke faced the good bowling of Sue Davis 13-30, Ron Hams and his team were sitting comfortably all day and finished 25-15 to Kathy Thomson, while Doreen and her team against Rex Vanstone, rallied after the break with a ‘six’ (it must have been due to the nice cake at afternoon tea), then on the last end (while the other teams were watching and waiting with bated breath), Doreen bowled ‘a pearler’ to win the match!
The Team of the Week was Rob Cavanagh, Murray Sauer, Hermann Kloss and Bob Leditschke, winning by an amazing fifteen shots!
After the games, a good number of club members enjoyed a sausage/hamburger patty barbecue for tea.
The next coaching session is on Tuesday 5th November at 4pm.
