Eudunda Bowls News 11th March 2023
The season is rapidly coming to an end with the first semi -final taking place on 4th March. Eudunda’s Divisions 3 and 4 played Tanunda on their carpet and were very competitive against the home sides. The red and white’s Division 3 went down by 6 shots and Division 4 down by 3 shots overall in a thrilling finish to the last end! Unfortunately it meant the end of Eudunda’s finals aspirations, and back in the clubhouse it was talk of what could have been with fish and chips and a cold beer.
On Sunday 5th March, the Bowling Club was the venue for Betty Marshall’s 80th birthday with over 50 relatives and friends attending. A lovely atmosphere pervaded the room with much fun and frivolity over lunch and the afternoon to celebrate Betty’s special milestone.
The Bowling Club also catered for a Liberal Party Dinner meeting on 14th March (last night)
The Association Championships are on March 25th and 26th, where Eudunda’s Singles and Pairs champions, Triples and Fours teams compete against the selected players of the other clubs of the Association.
Eudunda Bowling Club Presentation Night is Saturday 1st April and all members are encouraged to attend the dinner, raffle and presentation of trophies.
Eudunda Bowling Club AGM is on Monday 1st May at 7.30pm. Members please all attend and have your say about the future of the club.
EUDUNDA SOCIAL BOWLS
The new synthetic greens have enabled Eudunda Bowling Club to bowl all year round, so the club have organised Eudunda Social Bowls which will begin on Friday 14th April 12.30pm for 1pm start and every Friday thereafter during the winter, weather permitting. On those days when the weather is not suitable to be out on the green, other entertainment indoors will be the go. Teams will be drawn each week, a small raffle drawn, and this presents an opportunity to come out of hibernation, be socially active, have fun while enjoy bowls practise. All welcome.
NIGHT BOWLS
The Red Cross Night on Tuesday 28th February was very successful for the Red Cross as 48 bowlers supported their cause and in return were treated to a delicious supper. The winners of the Red Cross Night were Ron Milde, Trevor Prior and George Mitev, and runners-up Peter Dickenson, Katrina Turner and John Greenwood.
The Night Bowls finals begin tonight ( Wednesday 15th March) with the top 8 as follows: Robbie Rebels vs Trying Trio ( Jo Bruhn’s team ); Pointy Mob vs AKT ( Ted Schiller’s team ); Ron’s Rumbles ( Ron Milde) vs Yogi Bears ( Judy Milde ), Mally’s Maulers vs PAGE ( Pam Dutschke’s team ).
