Council Representation Review Options Paper Available

A reworded more up to date summary of the Representation Review can be found on the latest Council Newsletter, under the title “Representational Review“. You should read this. The important take away is this:

A public hearing will be held in Eudunda Town Hall on Wednesday 7 April 2021 at 7:00pm to hear and consider the submissions received.

Written submissions are invited from interested persons from Wednesday 24 February 2021 and should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Regional Council of Goyder 1 Market Square, Burra SA 5417 or by email to council@goyder.sa.gov.au to be received no later than 4:00pm on Wednesday 24 March 2021.
Please indicate in your written submission if you wish to be heard in support of your submission at the public hearing.

Sadly Council Staff have recommended taking away some of the Eudunda Ward rather than what would be the preferred option for Eudunda in creating a third Ward Councillor to represent the electors in an equal fashion to the other wards. This in effect will penalize the Eudunda Ward and it’s electors for the next 10 years as we grown, and this will likely present a precedent in the future. Other wards should consider this carefully as in the next review it may affect them in a negative way too. Basically this is ‘bean counting’ and not looking to a positive future for the Goyder Region, and certainly not Eudunda’s.

For those who might be surprised to read about this important discussion, some background information can be found on the Regional Council of Goyder website.
It’s difficult to point directly at the information as it is in drop downs, so it is duplicated below.
You can find the original on their website at: “Reports“, then scroll down until you see one called
“Representation Review” (and click on it – this should show you the information.
