Anlaby House and Garden Tours with Devonshire Tea On Offer On 24 & 28 April 2024
Step back in time with a unique guided tour of the homestead and heritage-listed gardens.
Discover 10 acres of beautiful English garden displays and a glimpse into one of the great South Australian rural houses of the Edwardian era.
Bookings close at 5 pm before our tour days. Bookings cannot be made days off the tours.
House Tour
The house tour includes the principal rooms, including the dining room, drawing room, smoking room, library plus a selection of bedrooms and some quirks of the house such as the flower arranging room and what is possibly the coldest bathroom in South Australia.
Also included is a sneak peek into the life of the servants. The butler’s pantry, scullery and kitchen give an insight into how much a house like Anlaby depended on a retinue of domestic staff.
Garden Tour
The garden tour includes access to the shade houses, glass house and the walled vegetable garden where we grow vegetables and herbs for use in the house. The formal areas of the garden are also included together with the rockery and water wise plantings where we are introducing sedums, succulents and agaves for year-round colour.
Devonshire Tea
Includes freshly baked scone, jam and cream served with unlimited tea and coffee and chilled water.
