Last Thursday the ladies had a close encounter of the enjoyable kind with Tanunda, but unfortunately in the last few ends faded against their stronger opponents 50-56. Doreen Twartz faced the superb bowling of Sue Yates 15-23, Ruth Scoot ended with a draw after taking a handy lead earlier in the game finishing 17-17 against Marg Meertens, and the shining light was Joy Hams against Sharon Burgemeister 18-16.

Mid-week men Division 1 had a bye, while Division 2 played Angaston at home and suffered a narrow defeat 56-60. Preston Eva was tested against Trevor Paech 12-20, Rons Hams likewise against Bruce Field 15-28, however Ted Schiller was on fire with his 29-12 victory over Chris Reardon; Ted almost getting his side over the line.

Last Friday. Eudunda hosted a very successful Ladies Tournament in ideal weather ( see separate article).

On a very hot Saturday Division 1 hosted Freeling and continued their focus on the pointy end of the season with a decisive win 117-67. Terry ‘Turtle’ Curtis blitzed through Rod Seen 35-13, Aaron Jones bowled well against Trevor Heinjus 23-15, Jimmy Mader was again impressive against a formidable Alex Bryan 39-18, and Tait Rogers had a tight match against Daniela Madalinski 20-21.

Division 2 played Kapunda Black under their roof and were struck a blow by their opponents 47-83. Michael ‘Doc’ Upton was down to Steve Norman 10-34, Rob Cavanagh was challenged by Steve Ahwan 21-28, and Mally Schutz was disappointed with his bowling 16-21 against Tony Robinson.

Division 3 played Angaston White at Angaston and had a superb day 85-29 with all teams up. Joy Hams kept in front of Mike Teakle all through the match 19-14, Doreen Twartz won over Gavan Phillis 26-10 with Doreen’s substitute player Steve Condon playing well and after a good bowl, would do an entertaining theatrical happy dance. The brilliant shining light was Ron Hams with his win over John Ireland’s team of three 40-5.

The Team of the Week was Ron Hams, Ruth Scoot, Felix Schiller and GG Schutz who all kept up consistent good bowling all day to finish 35 shots up!
