Last Wednesday Night Bowls was cancelled due to the COVID restrictions for numbers in the clubhouse.
On Thursday the ladies journeyed to Lyndoch and were challenged by a strong side 49-71. Judy Milde came back from 3-10 to win 21-12 against Joss Allwood, Ruth Scoot matched Sue Drummond early in the match, but then 10 shots down after the 21st end, while Joy Hams played the unbeatable team skippered by Marion Kenyon 12-33.
The Thursday Afternoon Division 1 played Kapunda at Kapunda and were down 43-89. Preston Eva was competitive with a four-shot deficit against Greg Cruickshank, while both Mally Schutz and Murray Sauer could not find the answers for Jack Trotta and Russell Walker.
Thursday Division 2 played Angaston on our home turf and lost by the narrowest of margins 51-52. Scony Toot was the shining light winning 20-16 against Malcolm Hurn. Ron Hams’ team performed admirably having a draw with Fred Thomas, and Jeff Willoughby was down by five shots.
Saturday’s gale force winds provided a challenge for the bowlers. Division 1 hosted Freeling and lost overall by 10 shots 89-99. Bill Mader kept pace with Ben Massey for the match finishing four shots light 21-25, Tait Rogers had a couple of new recruits in his team, however could not contain Alex Bryan 20-29, Murray Sauer in his new skippering role was down to Matt Marslen 19-30, however Chris Jones and his team came out on top 29-15 against Trevor Heinjus 29-15.
Division 2A travelled to Lyndoch to play bowls in the worst weather conditions possible. The gusty winds were a nightmare for the bowlers with Eudunda conceding to Lyndoch 47-96. Tony Scoot, Roy Fiegert and Ron Hams were down to Trevor Noble, Gary Stansborough and Brian Koch.
Division 3 had to forfeit due to insufficient players available.
The Team of the Week was Chris Jones, Frank Pfitzner, Judy Milde and Preston Eva, being fourteen shots up.
The draw for the Men’s Club Championships has been done and all matches are due to commence.
The Club Christmas Dinner will be on Saturday 19th December following the last pennant match before Christmas. Come and support your club.
