A good number of bowlers turned up for Night Bowls last Tuesday for a warm night with a thunderstorm threatening. The bowlers just finished their games before the rain started. Once again, a very close contest ensued. The winners for the night with three shots up were Ron Milde, Liz Kleinig and Ted Bowden, against Ted Schiller, Katrina Turner and Wendy Schmidt, runners up on two shots up were Janice Henderson, Hermann Kloss and George Mitev (with Bob Leditschke filling in for George part way through) against Rob Cavanagh, Marik Mosey and Ron Dunsdon, and third place with one shot up was the team of Geoff Mosey, Jane Felby and Murray Sauer against Liz Mosey, Pam Dutschke and Mally Schutz. Bob Leditschke won the raffle. An unprecedented – rain event followed the game, with Condor Laucke at Kingscourt recording ninety millimetres in a short time which caused severe flooding each side of the range of hills, both along Jaeger’s straight (Thiele Highway) and along Eudunda-Truro Road. One of the bowlers, Ted Schiller could not get home because of being stranded by the floodwaters, and slept the night in the car!

Saturday’s Division 1 journeyed to Mount Pleasant but didn’t came home with the bacon. The hosts were too strong in the hot conditions with Eudunda’s deficit being 80-97. Because there are no pennant matches this Saturday (Australia Day weekend), please endeavour to get some club championship games played, and join those already scheduled to play.
