The Night Bowlers had a beautiful night for bowls. Eighteen bowlers took part on the green, including a new face back at the club. The winner of the night was Murray Sauer, runner-up Ron Milde one shot behind, and Judy Milde a close third. Hermann Kloss received the Encouragement Award. Mally Schutz won the won prize of a meal voucher for the Light Hotel. Aggregate placings so far are Bob Leditschke in the lead, Ted Schiller second and Ron Milde in third place. The Night Bowlers are asked to dress in a festive mood in these two weeks prior to the Christmas break (December 12th and 19th), then will return on January 9th.

The Ladies played Lyndoch on our turf Thursday morning, and were winners 62-45. Doreen Twartz won in a nail -biter 20-19 against Sue Drummond; Ruth Scoot performed well against Jean Elsworthy 20-15, and Joy Hams had a comfortable win against Dianne House 22-11. The Ladies decorated the Club house with Christmas decorations following the game.

The Thursday afternoon Division 1 played Kapunda under the roof, and encountered stiff opposition, going down 48-81. Tait Rogers was in a tight tussle with Marty Ransom 15-19, Greg Prior was under pressure from Ian Greenshields 17-28, and Greg Post even more so against Brian Grant 16-34.

Eudunda’s Division 2 Mid-week side had a bye.

Saturday’s matches were a wash out. With positive attitude, Division 1 travelled to Tanunda to play even though the rain clouds were threatening. After the roll-up practise ends, only two match-play bowls were played by Preston Eva (who jokingly claimed he won by two shots!) and Mally Schutz, before the rain abandoned play.

At Eudunda, Division 3 played at least eleven ends before rain abandoned play. Eudunda was playing the top-placed Kapunda, and looked in a strong position to topple them when the rain came in! Gordon ‘Kiwi’ Teau was having a pearler of a day being 22-2 before rain stopped play; likewise, Ted Schiller had a handy lead 14-8, and ‘the two Ronnies’ namely Ron Hams and Ron Heir were at an interesting stage of the game 8-11 when the wet set in.

Division 4 were also at home against Kapunda and were in the lead when the rain came. Pam Dutschke was 5-7 and Roy Fiegert 13-4 when the game was abandoned.

The Team of the Week was Joy Hams, Pam Dutschke, Betty Marshall and Liz Kleinig.

The Christmas Dinner is this Saturday 16th December at 6.30 for 7pm start. Come and support the club and enjoy the dinner and festivities.

The Eudunda Bowling is saddened by the loss of Jeff Willoughby, who died last Saturday morning. Jeff was a valued member of the club, filling the position of Secretary for many years, actively involved in the Night Bowls committee, was always helping in many ways around the club by putting bowling mats and jacks out for play, flying the flags and many other administrative tasks for the smooth-running of the club. Above all, Jeff loved the game of bowls and recently had success in winning ‘team of the week’ on two occasions. He will be sadly missed.
