Eudunda & Districts Community Op Shop Celebrates Three Years Serving The Community
The Eudunda & Districts Community Op Shop is proudly celebrating our 3rd birthday this February and 2024 is going to be a really exciting time to be a part of the shop.
To celebrate, the shop will be having a $5 per bag sale from Wednesday 14th February to Saturday 24th February.
We supply the bag & you fill it!…all for $5.
OFFER applies to clothing only.
None of this is possible without the generous support of our local community.
We strive to offer interesting, good quality clothing and goods at very reasonable prices and all profits are returned to the community in the way of donations or general assistance.
We will in turn continue to support our community with our charitable arm:
Foodbank’s free fruit and vegetables will continue to be available.
We will also continue to have Foodbank vouchers which allows people to shop cheaply and with dignity.
Lutheran Care allow us to offer nonperishable items to people as an emergency stopgap until they get paid or can get to Foodbank.
We have lists of free resources and agencies that can help people.
The shop’s Board will also consider any other requests for help.
This year we are really starting to grow our Community arm:
We have joined the Australian IWD foundation and will be one of thousands of similar events being held across the country on March 8th. by hosting this year’s local International Women’s Day breakfast. This celebrates the amazing women of our community & we are selling tickets for ten dollars in the shop. This includes a catered breakfast, guest speakers, a door prize and a chance to meet some new faces.
We have joined forces with the Australian Heart Foundation and will be running walking groups in town. This is caring for our communities mental and physical health. It costs nothing and is another activity we can proudly call ours.
We have made partnerships with Uniting Communities on Barwell Street. They have very generously made their premises available for us to run the following activities in:
A repair cafe, in conjunction with Sustainable Communities Australia. This fits with our goal of up cycling, repair and reuse. We are hoping to run two a year. We will be asking for volunteers who can repair things to donate their time and skills. People would then bring in items that need repair to either receive assistance or be taught how to….for example maybe a knife that needs sharpening, a hem that needs to be fixed, a drawer that needs sanding. Small quick repair jobs.
And…
University of the Third Age courses. This will be a variety of short interesting courses run by volunteers for people over fifty, to reduce loneliness, improve mental health and of course learn new things.
Most importantly, we are here to assist the local & surrounding communities as best we can with a wonderful, caring staff of volunteers.
