Eudunda Bowls News
The Night Bowls resumed after a week’s disruption due to Covid restrictions. The weather was perfect and everyone lingered longer at supper including singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Allen Kleinig for his special 75th birthday. Ken Jones won the meal voucher and Maurice Nietschke the bottle of wine. This week at Night Bowls (today) there will be two games of 8 ends to catch up on the programmed game missed due to the restrictions. This is the last night before Christmas ( no game on 23rd) and bowlers are asked to dress up for Christmas for a party atmosphere. There will be a festive supper as well!
The Ladies had a bye and had a meeting to plan the club’s Christmas Dinner which is sure to be a great night at the club house on Saturday 19th December.
A first round draw of Ladies Club Singles saw Doreen Twartz topple last year’s Club Champ Judy Milde in a good game of bowls. Also, Club Pairs played with Betty Pfitzner/Rhonda Horne winning against Carolyn Doering/Liz Kleinig.
In the Thursday Afternoon Pennant match, Eudunda’s Division 1 hosted Tanunda but were down 44-74, however Preston Eva bowled very competitively against Tony Edwards 19-21 to be sure! Murray Sauer was 11-22 to Dave Martin and Mally Schutz down to Neil Stewart.
Thursday Afternoon’s Division 2 had a bye.
Division 1 played Tanunda at Tanunda and finished 82-117. For the first time in twenty years, Andrew Pfitzner was not available for bowls and was missed. Murray Sauer, Tait Rogers and Bill Mader were down to Neil Stewart, Tim Liersch and Dave Martin, while Chris Jones and his team had a great win 37-19 against Tony Edwards.
Division 2A hosted Tanunda on our home turf and went down 52-93. Ron Hams performed well to be only 5 shots down to David Armstrong, Tony Scoot’s team had bowls in the head only to be taken away by Des Schiller’s team, and Roy Fiegert was down to Neil Jaensch.
Division 3 played Angaston at Angaston with two new recruits in Daniel Doering and Neil Purdam, providing a boost to the side. Eudunda was short of bowlers and finished 43-79. Marg Nietschke was the shining light with a draw against Mark Blenkiron, while Pat Obst and Jeff Willoughby were down to Andrew Brunton and Faye Bain respectively.
The Team of the Week was Division 1’s Chris Jones, Judy Milde, Joy Hams and Preston Eva.
Please make a concerted effort to play Club Championship games as soon as possible now that the harvest is finished!
