The ladies played the top team Freeling and won 78-46. Ruth Scoot and her team bowled well to be within 2 shots of Karen Swanson 19-21, Joy Hams finished strongly against Heather Hancock 24-19, and Judy Milde and her team had an exceptional day 35-6 against Leanne Mullins.
Following the match, the ladies had a meeting to plan the Tournament on November 20th. Patroness Betty Marshall will open our Ladies day, and Caddyshack will be attending to cater for all men’s and women’s bowling needs in clothing, shoes and accessories.
Night Bowls began last Wednesday night with two teams unable to play due to hay-making commitments. The night was cool, but a warm atmosphere in the clubhouse permeated after the game. A new bowler Garry Cannon displayed a natural style and looks destined for greatness. Any new bowlers are welcome and guaranteed to get a game.
Thursday afternoon Division 1 played Nuriootpa at Nuriootpa and were down 50-73. Preston Eva was the shining light winning 22-19 against Roger Mattschoss, after getting a five on the last end the come from two down to three up. Unfortunately, Murray Sauer and Geoff Schmidt came second to J. Carter and Aaron Jones.
Thursday afternoon Division 2 played Kapunda Red on our home turf and were 54-69 to the visitors. Tony Scoot was biting on the heels of John Dermody 21-23, Roy Fiegert put up a gallant fight against Mick Ryan 16-23, and Ron Hams was 17-23 to Jack Trotta.
Division 1 played Kapunda on our home turf and finished a disappointing 86-102. Early in the match Eudunda looked good across the board, but could carry it through. Bill Mader had a commanding lead 11-0 against Russell Walker, until he found his straps and bolted. Tait Rogers was two shots up with three ends to go, but lost against Mick Cotton 18-27; Frankie Pfitzner was locked in a tight tussle with Linda Smith until the last few ends 18-26; and Chris Jones had a good win against Judy Earl 26-17.
Division 2A played Nuriootpa at Nuriootpa and were down 57-88. Being short of regular players Eudunda were disadvantaged. Joy Hams and Gordon ‘Kiwi’ Te.Au were down to Pauline Collyer and Denise Baker, and even though down 17-24 against M Medlow, Shotgun Scoot pulled off some amazing shots for his team!
Division 3 also played at Nuriootpa and were outdone 32-80 playing three players against Nuriootpa’s four players contributing to the loss. Roy Fiegert, Jeff Willoughby and Pat Obst were down to Bruce Kernich, Peter Flynn and Mike Sims.
The Team of the Week was Judy Milde, Doreen Twartz, Liz Mosey and Joy Fiegert with their amazing win by twenty- nine shots.
On Sunday, Eudunda players competed in State Singles at Tanunda. Chris Jones teamed up with Darren Green, Bill Mader with his son James, and Judy Milde and Ruth Scoot, who all competed well at this elite level, even though not winning their sections. The winners of the sections will play off next Sunday at Loxton.
This Saturday night there is a steak sandwich tea after pennants. Come and stay and support your club for an enjoyable night.
Put your names on the sheet for the Men’s Club Championship Singles and Pairs, and the 100-Up competition as soon as possible so that the draw can be done. Ladies draw has been done and games can commence.
