By contrast from last week. the twenty Night Bowlers had a beautiful night for bowling last Tuesday. The winner of the night was Ron Milde, runner-up Bob Leditschke and encouragement award to Trevor Prior.
The ladies had a wake- up call last week when they played Kapunda under the roof going down 45-85. Joy Hams had had a slow start 1-9, but recovered well leading 17-13 until losing the last three ends, finishing 17-23. Ruth Scoot had a great start until her opposing skipper Linda Carter took hold and powered away to a 14-30 result. Lyn Schutz had a lucky day against Judy Milde, winning 32-14. A meeting followed to finalise catering arrangements for Rodney Pfitzner’s funeral on Tuesday.
Thursday afternoon Division 1 Eudunda played Lyndoch at Eudunda and were denied victory by 6 shots 54-61. Chris Jones played C. Davis finishing 15-24, likewise Greg Post played G. Mattingly 17-22, however President Mally was the shining light winning 23-15 against Bob Howell.
Division 2 Eudunda men played Kapunda Red at Kapunda and came home winners 62-57. Murray Sauer had a strong win 20-15 against Ian Dawson, Jeff Willoughby had a draw with Ron Heir 19- all, and Ron Milde had a draw with Jack Trotta 23- all.
Saturday’s Division 1 played Nuriootpa on Eudunda’s home turf with the visitors winning convincingly 101-68 even though all matches were fought tenaciously and in good spirit. Tait Rogers was locked in a tight battle with Gary Chapman 20-24, Aaron Jones and Stuart Forbes – in the battle of the giants- played an awe-inspiring match 16-20, Bill Mader was matched brilliantly by Brenton Brown, with Brenton having a good day 16-26, and Chris Jones was served up a great display of bowling by Rob Grope and his team 16-31.
Division 3 played Angaston White also at home, and were unlucky to go down 55-59. Ron Milde had a see-sawing game finishing strongly with a win against Fay Bain 22-19, Ted Schiller had a tight tussle with Milky Johnson 20-19, while Gordon ‘Kiwi’ Teau could not find the answers for Blenkiron 13-21.
Division 4 travelled to Lyndoch and were rewarded with victory 61-58. Pam Dutschke persisted and won 24-22 against J. Pratt, Jeff Willoughby had an excellent win 22-11 against S. Davis, and Roy Fiegert was missing Joy in his team, going down 15-25 to Roger Vanstone.
The Team of the Week was Jeff Willoughby, Pat Obst, Jane Felby ( in her first week playing pennant bowls) and Joy Pfitzner.
Please enter the Club Championships as soon as possible – names need to be on the sheets before Friday when the draw will be done. On Friday the ladies are hosting their annual tournament with Caddyshack in attendance.
