Last Tuesday the Night Bowlers had a beautiful night for bowls, and wondered why there were not more people getting on the green to enjoy the conditions. President Mally Schutz, Liz Kleinig and George Mitev won the night against Murray Sauer, Trevor Prior and Jane Felby. Please keep free the Red Cross Night on Wednesday 20th March, and the last Night Bowls night on Tuesday 26th March.

On Friday afternoon after school, the Eudunda Area School staff had a social function of bowls with nibbles and drinks from the bar of the bowling club. The staff members had over three hours of bowling fun and this hopefully sparked some aspirations for future bowlers of our club!

On Saturday, Division 1 journeyed to Mount Pleasant for the last match of the minor round which was played in the morning due to the heat. The shortened game resulted in a great win for Eudunda 75-55 with three teams up, and one down. Lumpy and his team could not master the conditions against Chad Vivian 8-22, Tait Rogers had a nail-biter against Neil Kroehn 17-15, Aaron Jones showed his superiority against Bo Hambly 25-12, and Greg Prior had a dream run 25-6 against John Webb. Greg’s grandson Liam Prior was awesome in his first Division 1 game, and an inspiration for his proud grandfather and his other teammates Geoff Schmidt and Chris Jones. Liam, aged fifteen years, is the youngest player at Eudunda Bowling Club to play Division 1 since Jimmy Mader at age thirteen (Bill’s son), twenty- five years ago.

Division 3 played Angaston White at Eudunda in a game that determined which club clinched a finals berth. In the shortened game in the morning due to the heat rule, Eudunda were successful with a 33-24 win over Angaston. Kiwi Teau’s team played well but came second to Russell Walker’s accurate bowling 7-10; Ruth Scoot was at her best against Faye Bain 10-7, and the still colourful Ron Hams had a pearler of a day winning 16-7 against Milky Johnson. Division 3 bowlers are excited to be playing the first final against Tanunda at Tanunda next Saturday.

Division 4 also played at home against Lyndoch Gold and had a cliff-hanger 24-27. Pam Dutschke played the formidable Rex Vanstone 10-12, and Roy Fiegert had a sizzler 14-15 against Jeff Pratt. Eudunda consequently lost top spot on the premiership table, and will be playing the first final against Lyndoch Gold at Lyndoch next Saturday.

The Team of the Week was Greg Prior, Chris Jones, Liam Prior and Geoff Schmidt.
