Even though the ladies enjoyed the new green at Nuriootpa last Thursday, we were soundly beaten by the superior Nuriootpa side 64-87. Doreen Twartz lost to Carmen Isbel and her team 13-20, Ruth Scoot had a tight battle with Hanika Booth until the last few ends 14-22, and Joy Hams without her full team was down to Maureen Brown 10-22.

Mid-Week Division 1 Eudunda men played Freeling at Freeling and were victorious 70-50. Aaron Jones had a great day out 26-14 against Ian Young, Greg Prior won 22-18 against Rod Seen, and Des Schiller won in friendly rivalry against Ian MacFarlane 22-18.

Mid-Week Division 2 played Lyndoch at home and also had a successful day 66-48. The shining light was Ron Hams with a convincing 34-10 win over C. Martin, which covered both John Greenwood’s 16-19 loss to C. Davies, and Ted Schiller’s 16-19 deficit to Bruce Koch.

Division 1 had an extra match to fit in the round on Friday night playing Nuriootpa at Nuriootpa. It was a wake- up call for our dominant Eudunda side to come in second to a determined Nuriootpa 75-93. Turtle Curtis started his weekend success with a 27-19 dominance over Lachie Fuss, while Aaron Jones had a tough battle against Brenton Brown 18-24, Jimmy Mader was tested by Nuri powerhouse Rob Grope 14-24, and Tait Rogers’ talented bowling was surpassed by giant killer Stuart Forbes 16-26.

On Saturday, Division 1 played Tanunda on our home turf and reversed the night before result with a resounding victory against Tanunda 111-47. Turtle continued to have a good weekend with a great victory over Bradley Pech 33-10, Tait Rogers also shone brightly with his impressive bowling 33-9 against Tim Liersch, Aaron Jones showed his superiority over Keith Ward 24-12, and Jimmy Mader displayed excellent bowling against Neil Stewart 21-16.

Division 2 played Angaston White at Angaston and came home the victors 64-55. Mally Schutz skippered well with his team to win 28-12 against Russell Walker, Rob Cavanagh continued an impressive performance to win against Andy Brunton 21-18, and Michael ‘Doc’ Upton experienced a rare loss 15-25 against a formidable David Tye.

Division 3 journeyed to Mount Pleasant on a warm, windy day and defeated the hosts 70-51. Pam Dutschke had a tough battle with Liz Love 10-18, Ron Hams like-wise played a very tight match against Judy Perry winning 23-22, and Doreen Twartz bowled superbly to win against Dot Holt 37-11.

The Team of the Week was Doreen Twartz, Judy Milde, Rhonda Horne and Joy Fiegert winning by a fabulous 26 shots!

President Mally Schutz in his announcements mentioned all the birthdays in the club this week which included Ron Hams, Ted Schiller, Greg Prior celebrating his 70th birthday, and Dave Kleinig. He also announced that club coaching will be this Wednesday 6th November.

Night Bowls began Tuesday 5th November (last night) for this season.

Next Sunday 10th November, Eudunda Bowling Club is hosting a State event being the State Triples Sectional at 8am for 8.30am start. Eudunda has entered a team so come and witness a great display of bowling.

Please put your names on the sheets for the Club Championships which is the last chance before the tournament committee does the draw.

The Bowling Club will enter a float this year in the Eudunda Christmas Street Parade which is on Friday 6th December.

A Centenary Committee has been working and planning a Centenary celebration. The Eudunda Bowling Club is excited to announce that the Centenary celebration will be on Sunday 12th January 2025, exactly 100 years after the club was formed on 12th January 1925.
