The ladies played some great bowls on Nuriootpa’s slick green and won 55-54. Joy Hams and her team were victorious and finished strongly scoring nine shots in the last four ends to defeat Hanika Booth 23-15; Ruth Scoot had a great match against Kate Blacksell which included hitting the front with a ‘three’ on the twelfth end, however then succumbing to Kate’s good bowling 13-19; and Doreen Twartz had a tight battle all day with Maureen Brown, and going into the last end at 19-19, Maureen drew a superb bowl to clinch a one-shot win.

After the game, Nuriootpa ladies treated our girls (and Preston) and observer Betty Marshall to a beautiful lunch, being the final match of the minor round. Then our Eudunda bowlers went to Wohlers for coffee, cake and some shopping.

Mid-week Division 1 men played Freeling on our turf and won 65-58. Mally Schutz won 18- 17 against Ross Wordley, Greg Prior 22-27 had battle with Peter Fryer, and Chris Jones was dominant 25-14 in his game against Ian MacFarlane.

Mid-week Division 2 unfortunately had to forfeit (due to shortage of players) against Mount Pleasant.

The Saturday matches were played in the morning due to the forecast very high temperature, with the thermometer soaring to forty degrees in the afternoon.

Division played Freeling and won 90-73, even though Eudunda was missing a couple of their star bowlers. Corey AhChee was again dominant in winning 27-12 against Rod Seen, Turtle played some classic bowls to win 25-15 against Ian Young, Chris Jones had a tight tussle against Trevor Heinjus 20-23, and Andrew Swain was compromised by a formidable Alex Bryan 18-23.

Division 2 played Angaston Blue at Eudunda and were very competitive going down by just six shots 52-58. Andrew Fontaine battled and overcame the tough Judy Argent 21-18, John Greenwood kept up a high standard to draw 17-17 against Ian Cockcroft, and Mally Schutz was challenged by the superior bowling of Brian Teakle and his team 14-23.

Division 3 played Kapunda also at Eudunda, and had a brilliant win 98-35. Kapunda were at a disadvantage by only having three players in each of their teams. Pam Dutschke won 29-9 against Gerald Gill, Doreen Twartz had a comfortable win against Jim Keough, and Ron Hams 38-11 defeated Kate Jenkins.

The Team of the Week was Ron and Joy Hams, Mike Rees and GG Schutz who won by a magnificent 27 shots.

After the game, Bob Leditschke organised the fish and chips lunch for the bowlers, as a finale for the minor round matches of bowls.

Division 3 finished in top position on the Association ladder and will play the first semi-final this Saturday 1st March at home. Come along and support your club.
