Successful Levi Creek Nature Reserves Restoration Guided Walk Held On Sunday 8th Oct 2023
Levi Creek Nature reserves community group hosted a free guided walk of the Levi Creek nature reserves restoration works on Sunday the 8th October at the Dutton East location.
Volunteers and visitors were able to see the restoration work from ripping of the bare areas two years ago and two years of planting and to learn of plants in the 350mm rainfall creekline, mallee & grassland. Several hectares of repair work has been involved.
The tour was very positive, with many of the weed species having been controlled in key areas, allowing native species to return naturally. The enthusiasm and dedictation for the group is to be commended.
Everyone enjoyed a morning tea at the end.
This is a project involving local landholders and supporters who highly value these 2 areas of about 40 ha of remnant open mallee woodland, native grassland and creekline with very diverse plants. Major home for many bird species as well as many insects, reptiles and other animals.
THE GROUP WILL WELCOME NEW MEMBERS TO COME HELP AND ENJOY.
